The state can't just say we are out of money and not make every effort to help these people. Look at how much money was spent fighting this in court... The decision made is not a humanitarian one at all. Find the resources to get more shelters in the area... One at a church and one that has 17 spots is definitely not enough to house the thousands that are in Grants Pass alone. Not all of them are on drugs. Even the ones that are, deserve to be treated with some kind of humanly respect. Fining them, knowing they don't have the means to pay the fine, and then put them in jail because they couldn't pay or had nowhere else to go... Is not the solution. They, all who put policies in place, should all themselves, how would i want someone to help me if i were in that situation of homelessness. Renovate the abandoned buildings, warehouses where a company went out of business. Something. But mail and fines are not the answers...

I’m so tired of all the homeless who camp ANYWHERE and ruin parks and public places with needles, trash, and rampant crime in the community. How about removing the housing for illegals and putting our homeless in there for now? How about building or buying some apartments for housing? How about a designated place to camp and not just where you feel like it? Other citizens have rights too. We’re not un compassionate, but enough already. Stop voting democrat! They want people in this position!

Oregon has allowed so much open-air drug use, that it’s too late to enforce bans of homeless encampments. There isn’t enough jail space to lock up everyone who chooses to violate camping bans.

Homelessness is not a one solution problem to solve. Sometimes it’s drugs, sometimes it’s mental illness, sometimes is just hard times. All the money poured into the homeless issues and nothing has gotten better.
